Bierocks? ...More Like Manwich Discs

I was reading a blog where it talked about "Bierocks" ...once I saw these food discs looking things, I had to know more. So, I looked them up on one of my favorite recipe sites (AllRecipes.com) and found that they are a German recipe using hamburger and cabbage, etc..

Well, I was so intrigued by these little (well, not so little) discs, I had to make some. They mostly came out sort of, kind of round (nothing pretty like the ones on the site I mentioned, but they used a sandwich press, I didn't)... And, mine, well... uhh, ... well... mine were of a different sort.

They still looked like discs -hey, again, for the most part ...and they were edible. But, they were filled with cooked ground meat and Manwich sauce. THIS way, eating Manwiches wouldn't be so messy. And they weren't!

My husband and I both liked them... even if they weren't the prettiest things!

Those look GREAT and what a clever idea to put a different filling inside!

We do make bierocks and love them - there's even a bierock shop in town - must be a regional thing or something. But it never dawned on me that really, why couldn't you put ANY edible thing inside. The obvious RARELY dawns on ME.

Yours also remind me of calzones. Another favorite of ours I have never made but might now with your inspiration! :)

Beauty is in the eye (or stomach) of the beholder. I've had them and they are delicious. Thanks for the reminder. :)

Singing here before I comment...

"Fly me to the moon and let me play among the stars......" You even have Grizzly singin' along over here! Go Frank!

Hey, girly - Would you please do all my promotion? When I read about me the way YOU write about me, I even like me! :) "....it's your eyes... and smile and face shape... you are probably a momma bear DELUXE... so soft and cuddly and nurturing." Wow. That's so much more special and important than just lookin' in the mirror and seeing an old fat woman. Maybe this is how my kids see me. They try to tell me that but I can't see it. You made me look at things differently today and I felt....good about myself. Like there was more to me than just the unflattering bio in my head. Thank you, truly, from the bottom of my heart.

And now I hear "Bread" singing the line about how "You come and pour yourself on me." That seems to describe the blessing you always bestow with your loving and beautiful words. You have a poet's soul. I'm a blessed to call you my friend. I truly hope we actually get to meet face-to-face one of these days. :)
